Oaklands College future-proofs parking with Hozah’s flexible system

Oaklands College is upgrading parking at its St Albans and Welwyn Garden City campuses through its partnership with Hozah. Launching on 1 September 2025, the update introduces a simpler tariff structure and expands the use of Hozah’s AI-powered Ecosystem and Autopay system. The new approach is designed to make parking clearer and more convenient for students, staff and visitors, while giving the college a flexible, data-driven way to manage demand and future-proof its facilities.

 


Oaklands College is strengthening its partnership with Hozah to modernise parking at its St Albans and Welwyn Garden City campuses.

The initiative builds on the existing Hozah Autopay solution already in place at Oaklands, which has helped the college better manage demand across two busy sites serving thousands of learners, staff and visitors. The goal: make parking fairer, clearer and easier while giving the college greater control over how spaces are used.

Why the update matters

Oaklands needed a structure that balances driver convenience with operational efficiency. The new approach:

  • Encourages healthy turnover of spaces during peak times.
  • Reduces administrative burden through digital permits and Autopay.
  • Improves transparency with straightforward rules and pricing.

For drivers, that means fewer bottlenecks, barrier-free entry/exit, and predictable costs. For the college, it delivers a scalable, data-driven system that can evolve with policy, term dates and real-world demand.

The new tariff structure

  • Short stays: First 2 hours free (visitors register at reception).
  • Longer visits: £2 flat fee beyond 2 hours.
  • Students:
    – St Albans: Free for full-time 16–19 and ESOL learners (Hozah registration required).
    – Welwyn Garden City: No student parking Monday–Friday.
  • Staff: Free in designated bays.
  • Blue Badge: Clearly signposted bays at both sites.

A system that grows with the campus

Hozah’s ecosystem lets site owners adjust tariffs and rules quickly, without new hardware, so Oaklands can respond to changes in demand or policy in real time. Rollouts are supported with new on-site signage, marketing materials, and clear driver communications, keeping changes smooth and well-understood.
